The Importance Of Clothes In Everyday Life

Clothes have always been considered starting from their functional and social role. They differ from culture to culture and from generation to generation. What initially started as a mere act of protecting the body from the climate conditions, it has now turned and diversified into a statement of who we are and what we believe in.

At a first glance, one can notice that the origins of clothing date back to prehistoric time and the main function was the protection it offered to the human body against adverse weather conditions such as cold or freezing weather, strong winds and precipitation or suffocating heat. They were initially made of animal skin or fur and later developed into clothes made of weaves appropriate for each situation. Nowadays, the range of weaves of clothes is broad and continues to expand. People pay more and more attention to details and create fabrics which are allergy free and respond to the most extreme weather conditions such as the polar temperatures.

However, the functional role of clothing does not reduce to protection against the climate conditions. They also adapt for each type of jobs available as there are uniforms which mark down the group you belong to, like, for instance, in the case policemen and military personnel.

It is this value of belonging to a certain group that sky rocketed the clothing industry. People started to adopt clothing patterns not only to reflect their personalities but also to show that they share the same behavior and beliefs. If earlier the difference in clothing was intended to emphasize the social class people belonged to, nowadays, there is also an ideological side to it. It is the case of gang members, for instance, who tend to wear a specific item of clothing to distinguish them from the rest of the world.

Teenagers are probably the most important trend setters and play an important role on the clothing market. Irregardless of the culture they belong to, they are now more and more exposed to the western styles available and they buy clothes to make a statement and thus, they are always in search of the best deals available.

The Importance of Jewelry in Our Daily Lives

Jewelry is categorized under two subdivisions, contemporary and traditional, each displaying attractive and eye catching designs. Both classic groups exhibit jewelry constituting of precious gem stones, gold, silver, other metals and natural materials.

The primary objective of wearing jewelry as pieces of ornament is to look beautiful and this trend is not confined to recent times but rather from time immemorial, as jewelry has been associated with women for their personal beautification. The origin dates back to ancient times when beads and shells were used as body ornaments, while bones, wood, elephant tusk and ornamental stones were carved and etched to produce attractive artifacts.

They had widespread usage ranging from functional utility like pinning clothes or were status symbols and adorned the person from head to toe. However, nowadays the increasing demand for jewelry pieces has made craftsmen more creative and stunning items in gold, silver, platinum and gem stones have flooded the market in variety of styles and designs. The major items include necklaces, amulets, bangles, bracelets, earrings, nose ring, anklets to name a few.

Today, the jewelry designs are not merely based on the traditional metals, rather the contemporary jewelry items reveal a gamut of materials ranging from wire, tumbled stone and other lesser known elements. They create affordable and inexpensive items which are popular with masses and are used as accessories to highlight the wearer’s appearance. The manifold functions of jewelry are widely acknowledged. It is still used as a form of currency and exhibits the affluence of the owner. The lesser known usage includes buckles, clasps, brooches or pins, as well as amulets which are mostly worn to ward off evil influences, according to ancient superstition.

From the ancient periods, the trend of amassing wealth through jewelry acquisition still continues today. This is believed to stem from the fact that this pattern of stocking of jewelry is a source of future security against economical blow down or other such unforeseen eventualities. Wedding in the Asian countries still centers around jewelry gifts and exchanges between the two parties which again reinforces the phenomenon of security considerations. In some nations, it is a renowned practice for commercial trading while in other countries, jewelry, especially ornaments of gold, symbolizes group bonding and wearing a ring connotes the marital status of people.

The purity of American or European gold is specified in karats. While the American gold jewelry has at least 10K purity, the European ornaments center around 9K purity. In the Asia, Middle East and Africa, the gold jewelry of highest purity of 22K or 24K is mostly prevalent. Other precious metals such as Platinum alloy range of jewelry are of 90% and 95% purity while silver jewelry is predominantly known to be of sterling silver.

Costume jewelry primarily constitutes of items made of enamel, natural clay, stainless steel, glass and other such similar raw materials. Necklaces, earrings, bracelets and belts, etc., made of bead are also very popular, especially with the younger generation. Necklaces and bracelets made of various sizes of beads were highly popular during the Victorian Era, however, these types of jewelry has always been in vogue in the African countries. This trend has made fresh inroads in other parts of the world as well.

Collectors’ items of jewelry have been known to be produced from excellent craftsmanship of silversmiths and goldsmiths. Tiaras and rings from dazzling diamonds have captivated the market for a long time, especially within the affluent class. Precious stones, besides diamonds, such as emerald, sapphire, ruby, jade and quartz, etc., have also been used to create and design spectacular range of attractive jewelry items.

How Not To Get RIPPED OFF Selling Your Gold Jewelry

Read this before you sell your gold!

In this difficult economy, more and more people are selling their gold jewelry for cash. Have you seen the people standing out on street corners, spinning their “WE BUY YOUR GOLD” signs, beckoning you to their stores or booths?

There are a few things you need to know BEFORE you sell your broken and unwanted gold chains, earrings, bracelets, watches and rings. Below is the chart which shows how gold prices have skyrocketed in just one year:

What is your gold worth today?

So how do you calculate the price per gram weight on gold? It’s a little complicated. When your gold is purchased, it is then sent to a refiner. The refiner has a lot of overhead expenses, such as pricey equipment for environmental restrictions (alloys can contain very harmful agents), acids, labor, etc. plus there are impurities also. Your 14K gold may not be exactly 14K gold. Unless it states “14K P” on the hallmark of your jewelry, it probably is a tad less than 14K. The “P” means Plumb, or exactly 14K. The refinery will typically charge a 12 to 15% fee for refining down your gold or silver.

Here are equations that we use and will typically work as the NET per gram price, after refining fees: 10K gold: spot price X.0119 = price per gram 14K gold: spot price X.0168 = price per gram 18K gold: spot price X.0220 = price per gram 22K gold: spot price X.02745 = price per gram

You can easily find the current price of gold (spot price) on the Internet. Today gold is about $ 1500 per ounce. That means 14K will be worth: 1500 X.0168 = $ 25.20 per gram to the person that buys your gold. A good price for you to get today for 14K gold would be $17.00 per gram.

What you need to know:

1. If your jewelry has a gemstone(s) in it, chances are you will be giving it to the gold buyer. Almost all of these buyers are interested in ONE THING – the metal. Some of them don’t have a clue about colored gemstones. They usually know about diamonds, but very few know anything about colored gemstones. Some of these buyers will pay you their gold per gram rate for the gemstone, especially if it’s small to medium size. It’s easier for them just to weigh the entire piece of jewelry and pay you – besides, they’re usually making a lot of money on the transaction, and can afford to do it this way. It may not be a good deal for you however. For example… let’s say you have a 14K gold ring with a small blue gemstone in it. The gold buyer will weigh the ring and give you the price based upon the total gram weight of the ring, including the gemstone. That might great for you if that blue stone is quartz or topaz (less expensive colored gemstones), but what if it’s Apatite, Zircon, Aquamarine, Spinel, Blue Diamond, Sapphire, Paraiba or Indicolite Tourmaline,… etc.? Any of these gemstones are very valuable, and it probably would be a good idea to remove the gemstone and either reset it in a setting that you will wear or sell it. When you are talking about gemstones, the weight is measured in Carats. The conversion from Carats to Grams (what your gold is measured in) is: 5 Carats = 1 Gram. So, let’s say you have a 5 carat Paraiba Tourmaline and you choose to leave it in the setting. You will get a price of $15. per gram, so this Paraiba is worth $15. (1 gram). A little checking on the Internet will tell you that Paraiba can be worth upwards of $5,000 per Carat, or $25,000. (This is an extreme example, as Paraiba Tourmaline is copper-bearing and VERY rare, but it illustrates the point).

2. Let’s say you want to have a gold buying party. All of your friends come to the party with their gold jewelry that they don’t wear anymore and want that extra cash that their jewelry might bring. Did you do any price comparisons? There are a lot of people that put on these parties and make a fortune – on your jewelry. Do your homework! ASK THE IMPORTANT QUESTION – HOW MUCH WILL THEY PAY PER GRAM FOR Silver, 10K, 14K, 18K, 22K and PLATINUM jewelry. It’s much better to use an established, local resource for this party. Ask about security. How many people will be there from the buyer’s business?

3. As of this week, gold is at an all-time high, with the price for 14K to be at about $ 25. per gram. That means an HONEST Gold Buyer will purchase your 14K gold jewelry …

History of the Brahmin Handbag

In 1882, Joan and Bill Martin began Brahmin Leather Works which was a small entrepreneurial enterprise in Massachusetts. The company began in their home where they were to create handbags that would capture the imagination of high society women in Massachusetts. The term Brahmin originally comes from the caste system of India where the elite class, the highest caste, were called Brahmins. The term also means learned one, and denotes one of the highest societies of the Indian caste system of the 1800’s. In Boston, the socialites of those days who were of high standing were called Boston Brahmins. The term was embraced by Bill Martin and stuck ever since.

As the years went by, the Martins realized that the company would amount to much more than a small Boston handbag shop. They soon began working with others to create a brand name and the Brahmin name took off like a shooting star. The high quality of Brahmin bags coupled with their fashionable designs are what made the company a symbol of fashion and the finest craftsmanship. Made of Italian leather and polished with a unique sheen, the bags became popular with the well to do of the New England area very quickly.

Today, while operations are large scale, there remains only four Brahmin handbag retailers. All of these are in the New England area. The company is still very much family owned, but has cooperated extensively with sales professionals from all over the country to promote their products. A recent big step for Brahmin was to collaborate with Dillards to sell their handbags. You can now find Brahmin hand bags in Dillards along with all your favorite high end brands. The only difference is that their handbags will be at a surprisingly low rate compared to other high end brands.

There are literally hundreds of styles and colors of hand bags to choose from. Brahmin has come up with a unique style of naming their purses to categorize them for easy reference. They use girls names like Rosaline, Alyssa, and Dana, to name a few to tell styles apart. You can find a variety of wrist purses, cross body bags, business bags, as well as party hand bags. The list is endless to what you can find. If you would like to locate a specific color and style you can do so easily by logging on to the Brahmin web site which is the official site for the renowned handbag.

Urban History and Current Trend of Name Necklace

Hollywood stars and singers like Madonna, J.Lo, MC Hammer, and many more have made it more fashionable to wear name necklaces. While some think of it simply as a fashion statement, name necklaces also have its own unique history. A silver name necklace or one in gold have been around for a couple of decades and became increasingly popular especially in the 1980s due to the rise of urban and hip hop styles. However, taking a further look back in history, it was recorded the newly freed slaves changed their name. There was a need for African-Americans to change their name. In retrospect it spoke of a new beginning, a new identity. During those times, it was important to come up with a unique name to establish an identity.

When looking at a personalized necklace, one can get an idea or feel of the personality of the wearer. One publisher shared that mothers would try to save all the pennies that they could in order to afford a necklace or jewelry for their little one so that their little girls could feel that they were important and that they were someone special.

The trend amongst the African-American community was eventually absorbed by others in the community. On the total opposite side we can see that Sex in the City’s Carrie made it more increasingly popular and even called it “ghetto gold.” Even if it is worn by different members and backgrounds of the community, there is the stereotype and recognition that the style emerged from the African-American, Urban, Hip-hop community. The style is continuing to change as many wearers are also making personalized name necklace with adjectives.

Different name necklaces designs are available in the market today. It has become an increasingly popular gift idea and considerably fashionable to wear. A nameplate necklace can be worn to any event whether it is formal or informal. Like Carrie, she wore her necklace whether she donned on jeans and a t-shirt or a beautiful black dress.

Prices for personalized jewelry or a necklace with name come in different ranges. Some have already been made and can be found in malls like a children name necklace. However, it is possible to design one’s own to make it especially customized which gives the giver the avenue to display their take on the wearer. Things to consider is the size, color, chain length, and even how many diamonds one would like to put on it. Icons such as teddy bears and dolls can also be put on the necklace. Children name necklace can also be designed. This makes a very beautiful gift which could be an heirloom passed in the future.

Abortion Methods – Learn 7 Different Types Of Abortion

Spontaneous, Herbal and Induced are the three general methods of abortion. Although it is not that popular or necessary in this modern era but there is a method known as self-inflicted abortion also. Most of the people do not consider self-inflicted abortion to be among the major methods.

In self-inflicted abortion a a sharp object such as a coat hanger is inserted into the cervix of the expecting mother. This method is known to be extremely dangerous or deadly and is not at all reliable.

One of the oldest method of abortion is herbal abortion which is also not considered very safe. The result of Herbal abortion is sometimes only a sick pregnant woman. It is not much different from the worse self-inflicted abortion. Over hundreds of years, several herbs are used to carry on herbal abortion. These herbs use to be silphium, birthwort, black cohosh, pennyroyal, tansy etc. of which some are now extinct. It also include modern day herbs that some people use daily such as juniper, lavender, parsley, thyme, marjoram and dill. Such herbs are termed as abortifacient or simply the herbs that can cause abortion.

However, surgical methods are the most commonly used abortion methods these days. Doctor may initiate one of the three surgical procedures to initiate abortion at an early term. The three surgical procedures followed for abortion are:

1) Manual Vacuum Aspiration or MVA- In MVA method a syringe is used to suction out tissue which causes abortion

2) Electric Vacuum Aspiration or EVA- In an EVA method an electric pump is used to suction the tissue out.

3) Dilation and Curettage or D&C- Once the cervix of the pregnant woman has been opened, sharp curette is used to clean the uterus walls.

4) Dilation and Evacuation or D&E- In this method the uterus is cleaned by the use of instruments and suction once the cervix of the pregnant woman has been opened.

5) Hysterectomy Abortion- Hysterectomy Abortion is related to the cesarean section to terminate a pregnancy.

6) Controversial Intact Dilation and Extraction or IDX- IDX is also known as Partial Birth Abortion. In this method the cervix is diated by use of forceps to grasp and turn fetus in breech position. Then the fetus is withdrawn and only head of the fetus is left inside cervix. Then the head is collapsed by suction of brain matter from the skull. This is done through the small incision which is made at the base of the skull. IDX or Partial Birth Abortion is a banned abortion method under Partial Birth Abortion Ban law. This law was passed by Congress and came into effect when President George W Bush signed it in 2003. But this law does not provide any information in cases where abortion is necessary for woman’s health and is therefore examined by US Supreme Court for its legal validity.

7) Chemical Methods- Combination of drugs can effectively terminate or end pregnancy. Drugs such as mifepristone or methotrexate are used for abortion which is followed by prostaglandin. Prostaglandin comes in two types and its usage depends on the place where abortion is done. Gemeprost is used in Sweden, UK whereas in US misoprostol is used commonly for abortion.

Palm Wine and Its Importance In Traditional Igbo Society

Palm wine in Igbo land comes in two sources: nkwu (palm tree) – the source of the palm wine known as “Mmanya Nkwu”, and ngwo (rafia palm tree) – the source of the palm wine, known as “Mmanya Ngwo”. Each of the palm wine categories are regarded with different respects. Each has different functions in different occasions, depending on of course, how that particular area or village regards it.

In production, they are tapped in much the same way, by climbing to the required height or to the neck of the palm tree and cutting ducts, under which are placed local mugs (calabashes) or plastic gallons. In some areas, the “Mmanya nkwu” is tapped also from a fallen palm tree. However, it is worth mentioning that the quantity of “Mmanya ngwo” obtainable from the palm tree is usually about thrice that of “Mmanya nkwu” within the same time limit.

In taste, they are also different while “Mmanya ngwo” tastes very sweet (sugary) but goes sour (fermentation) within a shorter duration. The “Mmanya nkwu” has a unique sweet, but pleasant taste which it maintains for a longer duration. Some areas in Igboland regards “Mmanya nkwu” better than “‘Mmanya ngwo”. This preference sometimes depends on the availability of one over the other in that area. Hence in some areas, traditional marriage and bride price ceremonies are not honoured with “mmanya ngwo”, some other areas can accept “mmanya ngwo” where “mmanya nkwu” is not available. In some areas, the preferred kind of wine is employed in settling land disputes, in traditional gatherings, marriages, burials, festivities, land leasing occasions, among a host of other activities and ceremonies too numerous to mention.

When being served in any occasion, the associated rules are obeyed. In any gathering, it is the youngest man or male that serves the wine, which is usually drunk traditionally in either elephant tusks or cow horns for titled men. There is also another drinking cup called “Okuku”, a small type of cup made from a calabash. The young man serving will hold the wine container (calabash or gallon) on his left lap (thigh) and supports it with his left hand, while he holds the tusk or horn (“mpi” or “Okuku” – calabash cup) in his right hand. The first one he serves is handed to the host to drink. The second goes to himself, while the third goes to the eldest man in the gathering.

After all the formalities, the rest of the men are equal, and are served except for titled men who are served first before the others. But if the young man is to serve the wine standing, he holds the base of the container with his right hand and the neck with his left hand, while the partakers holds out their cups for him to pour out the wine. This is not the case for a woman. If she is to be served the wine, the young man pours it himself and hands the cup of wine to her, who in turn receives it with both hands as mark of respect and honour. She must not drink it while standing in the gathering; she squats down or sits somewhere before drinking it. If at any point the young man decides to shake the container to make for even concentration, he must first drop the container on the ground before he continues serving and the first person to tap him will receive a cup of wine.

The last cup of palm wine which contains the dregs (Ugwu mmanya) is usually given as a mark of honour to the eldest or the host. The Igbo man, you may infer, is actually rich in culture and tradition.

In subsequent write-ups, I will emphasize on the importance of Palm Wine to the Igbo race, and indeed the whole world.

The Original Designer Fashions, Or Why Do We Wear Clothes?

Let’s think about why we wore clothes today-warmth, protection, just plain common sense, cultural expectations. But does the Bible give us any clues about why we wear clothes?

Ken Ham, a well-known biblical creationist, teaches that the first eleven chapters of Genesis provide the basis for all the principles of Christian doctrine. So let’s go to this book of beginnings to look for the answer to our question “Why do we wear clothes?”.

In the Beginning

As believers in Christ, we have the story of creation laid out for us very plainly in Genesis. We know that in chapters 1 and 2 God created the heavens and the earth, formed man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, proclaimed that it is not good for man to be alone, and created a suitable helper for Adam. Adam said, “This is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; she shall be called woman, for she was taken out of man.”

The verse I would like to focus on is Genesis 2:25: “The man and his wife were both naked, and they felt no shame.”

We can only imagine the situation: Adam and Eve were created by a perfect Creator and placed in a perfect environment. They had no knowledge of anything evil; they walked with God in the garden and communed with Him directly; they had no reason to be ashamed or to feel shame at being unclothed. There was nothing impure about the situation.

I don’t know how long Adam and Eve were privileged to enjoy such a pure existence, but the serpent entered the picture and preyed upon the naivety of Eve by enticing her to eat the fruit from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. She then led Adam into sharing in the sin.

This disobedience broke their perfect relationship with God, and suddenly the eyes of both of them were opened, and they realized they were naked (Genesis 3:7). Their shame at this knowledge caused them to feel the need to cover themselves. Their plan was to sew together fig leaves to make aprons for themselves, thus covering their private parts. When God came to walk with them in the cool of the day they were so ashamed that they hid from Him.

Do you think He already knew what they had done? They needed to say and God needed to hear them say what they had done to break this wonderful fellowship they had enjoyed. So He got right to the heart of the matter, not commenting on their manner of covering their sin, but rather dealt with the sin that had been committed. Punishment was pronounced immediately.

From Master Creator to Master Designer

Then the Master Creator became the Master Designer as He made garments of skin for Adam and Eve. You might say they had the original Designer clothes! Here we see the first blood sacrifice for sin, as one or more animals would have had to be killed to make the coverings for Adam and Eve. Most authorities agree that the meaning of the word translated “garment” in Gen. 3:21 indicates a piece of clothing which covered the body at least from the neck to the knees. God’s plan was not the same as Adam and Eve’s plan!

In the following devotions, we are going to explore more about clothing and fashions, and what the Bible and other Christians have to say about how we dress.  Right now I would like to pose the question to all of us as girls, young ladies, and women:  Are we, like Eve, offering forbidden fruit by dressing in a way that does not match the original Designer’s plan? Although men have the responsibility to control themselves, are we placing temptations in front of them that will cause them to desire what they should not desire?

Let’s pray. “Father, You know the heart of each one in this room. You know the innocence, the naivety, as well as the sinfulness. Please speak to us in the language we can understand and show us how we can improve in our presentation of this feminine body You created. Help us to enjoy our time together learning how to use our creativity to honor You. We commit ourselves to You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

The Low-Down on This Summer's Shades

It looks like there is a worldwide plot to alter trends in sunglasses on a nearly yearly basis. It fails of course, but sometimes something that should have never been in the first place becomes a trend through sheer persistence. Growing up we had a drawer in our house that held nothing but sunglasses of every size, shape and color. My parents finally sold that house and while moving them recently we rediscovered the drawer. Inside was a fifty year history of sunglasses in America. My sisters inspected each pair recalling who they belonged to and what vacation they were from or what boy they were dating at the time. My two daughters were of course ecstatic and gleefully picked out the ones they wanted, which was nearly all of them.

Back then only a few designers had gotten into the sunglasses game. We of course had Ray-Bans and Oakleys, which cost plenty, but there were no Dior, Gucci or Armani sunglasses to be found when I was growing up. Today you can not throw a stick in an optometrist's office without hitting a dozen designer frames. I'm not so vain that I will only wear the latest fashions, but if I'm dropping some money on a pair I prefer to get something that's at least in style right now.

Oversized sunglasses are still in for better or worse. I tried a few frames by Gucci and Prada and laughed because some were so big they looked more like a mask than sunglasses. No, I do not have an especially small face. Like all designer trends, they've taken a step closer to ridiculous in an attempt to be unique. What is new is the variety of lens shapes and colors. I still can not look at them without thinking of Charlie's Angels.

Aviator glasses are also still in, but have an elementone some kind of fashion inflected mutation. Double frames, rose tinted gradient lenses, oh my. These have never been my go to as they just look like dude glasses. It does not matter how well you do your hair, how sexy you dress or even how red your lipstick is, you still look like you're wearing your brother's sunglasses.

Of course cat eye sunglasses are back because they're fabulous. I'm hoping this is a style that never goes away and even if it does I'm still wearing them until the day I die. I had a pair of black and green Armani's with full tint lenses that made the beach at noon look like the dark side of the moon. I tried to find another pair after mine were lost somewhere between Nassau and Chicago, but they do not sell that model anymore which is horrible.

If you do pick up a new pair of sunglasses this summer, remember not to throw your old ones out. Put them in that drawer with all the others so that someday you can pass them on. Plus you never know, they could come back in style.

Uggs Sheepskin Boots – Are the Worth It?

Many believe the Uggs boot to be the most comfortable on the market. It is crafted with sheepskin which is soft. It conforms to the shape of the foot and keeps it cool in hot weather and warm in the freezing cold. The functionality and craftsmanship of the sheepskin along with its comfort makes it a popular choice.

You will adore these Uggs as you consider how they leapt from the fashion pages and into the mainstream. Why are they so popular? It’s because they are stylish and comfortable. Consumers overwhelmingly chose them for those reasons and not the hype.

If you are looking for a discounted pair of Uggs boots or a special deal on Ebay, you may find something that will fit your budget. But, you will not find discounted merchandise at retail and cyber shoe stores.

They were popular with Australian swimmers and surfers in the 1960’s then migrating to California for the shakedown fashion cruise. Needless to say, they became a sensation.

Warm Ugg sheepskin slippers are available in short and taller styles in colors ranging from neutral colors, tans, browns and as flat heels that can be worn as a slipper or street moccasin. They offer absolute comfort in summer as well as winter. The great part is that they are virtually odor free.

The shoes were so practical and comfortable that word spread on the street about the footwear’s attributes. Sheepskin is much more comfortable than cowhide and odors tend not to develop because the shoe breathes well.

The sheepskin fleece allows for air circulation that in the summer doesn’t heat up your feet and in winter provides insulation against the cold. It’s a comfortable boot for all seasons. That applies to their slippers as well. The Ugg tanned outer surface with wool inner lining are designed to wear without socks. Ugg Australia is the comfort shoe of choice.

Did you ever wonder how the word Ugg came about? The common interpretation was ”ugly boot”. The Australian sheep shearers who first crafted the boot thought they were ugly. Well, the name stuck even though the newly-designed version is attractive and a far cry from the frontier beginnings. They are cozy and functional.

Today there is a wider number of designs to choose from for men and women’s Ugg boots. There is the classic Ugg boot and newer designs in a variety of colors and materials. Women’s crochet designs got the nod from Oprah Winfrey “Favorite Things” segment with their knitted upper part and come with a sheepskin sock liner. Uggs are available in various lengths and colors. Other Ugg boot designs have incorporated design features that sport a slimmed down upper part along with some styles including a laced look.

Men’s coats come in many sizes, shapes and colours. There are short casual bombers or tailored metro-sexual men’s coats; there are mid-length leather jackets that ooze confidence and success; there is the men’s long dress coat and then a variety of sport specific rainbow coloured jackets that no fashion conscious sportsman would be without. Whether you are bombing down the ski hill on your snowboard or on your way to the board room the right coat men’s coat can finish your look and give you the confidence to be your best on either.

Be Prepared

Ideally, purchase two men’s coats. All-weather trench coats work well with suits for mild rainy weather and a full-length winter coat for cold snowy days. While you will find double and single-breasted styles, the fashion right now is for single. Choose what suits your body type best. Not sure? Ask for professional help; ask a significant other or informative sales clerk to help you to find the perfect men’s coat that works best for you and your wardrobe.

The Fall Trench Coat

A man’s fall trench coat should be made of good weatherproof cotton canvas. It may have a belted waist and button front or may resemble the Austrian outback coat and drape from the shoulder. Again make a choice that is flattering for you. For less frequent cleaning choose dark colours such as blue, black, brown or green.

A Winter Dress Coat

A winter dress coat should be made of wool or down and the longer the coat, usually the more formal it is. Choose a dark colour that compliments your wardrobe and your colouring. Coats in dark shades of blue, grey and black are good for cool skin tones and those who have a warmer skin tone, or naturally red hair can wear beige, dark green and brown. To make a statement, make an investment in a soft cashmere winter warmer men’s coat.

Fur Coats

Men’s fur coats may have once been a statement of wealth and power. Now wearing the skin of an animal makes a statement of ignorance and lack of care for the environment. Fur may have once been a necessity, now it is a potentially dangerous frivolity. Protestors and PETA activists single out those wearing fur coats and attack them with slander and spray paint. Stick to wool, no one had to die for it and you will not risk being politically incorrect.

The Right Jacket for the Right Occasion

Another fashion faux pas’ includes trying to wear a parka, hoodie or jean jacket with a suit. No matter what you have seen on the cover of a magazine this is not an appropriate choice to cover a tailored suit.

Find your style

Find your style, your colours and show your personality in your outerwear. For much of the year your coat is really the first impression that you offer when you walk into a room. Orchestrate that impression and buy the best that you can afford.

Lovers Dance

Here I sit in silent wonder searching beyond the veil of consciousness driven by Divine discontent. Yes, only in the peace of stillness can the source of all knowledge, love and wisdom be found in the collective unconscious or universal mind. The sweetest music in the universe is when lovers dance to the tune of the one vibration. However so many in this period of history, fail to learn how to dance correctly in order to create the most beautiful inspirational harmony. This leads us to the realization, that the main purpose of relationship is spiritual growth. Correct relationship with another is only possible when first you have attained this within yourself.

The world reflects back to you, your own energy state. Therefore in the beginning of your conscious journey in life you need to become aware of your own unique energy state or frequency. The easiest way to work this out is to look at what is reflected back from a partner with what you can exchange energy with love and caring. Unfortunately it is not possible to learn very much from someone for what you care very little about.

So now this leads us into a good story because I like you enjoy a good story. The greatest joy in this world is a person who feels that he has been truly, completely and totally divinely blessed. However Daniel did not feel this way as he sat on the beach early one fine morning watching the sun rise. The sun rose from out of the East pushing back the darkness. This is the beginning of another day completing another cycle of rebirth.

Daniel sat there watching the sun's rays first stream out from the horizon over the ocean; followed by the illumination of the tops of the clouds and then the tops of the trees on the headland. It is at first a heel glow before being transformed into a golden ball of light. How the evolution of the soul so closely mirrors this simple awakening each morning.

At first the soul is so clouded down by the outflowing controls of the ego that only a dim light can be seen. However in the fullness of time as the ego is so worn down through pain and suffering experience it ever gives up or surrenders to the higher power within. So now we can see only the golden glow of the beautiful uplifting all inspiring soul light a burning fire.

Yes, in stillness Daniel sat there quietly pondering on the cyclic nature of life. Contemplating upon another failed relationship wondering what he had learned out of it all? This man is a little bitter may we say because he is now the veteran survivor of a couple of failed relationships. He is a little scarred and battle weary from his experiences. However in failure you have the seeds of success. So as he was always the eternal optimist; his interest was soon ignited when one fine day he sees a pretty young thing oops I mean young woman move across his field of vision. Attraction is the soul's joke on the personality.

The woman of his attraction was Rose an aspiring high priestess we may say. Although she understands the theory of the ancient wisdom she has yet the skill to live this correctly in practice. Even though she is a few years younger in physical age, her spiritual maturity was a finer lighter frequency by comparison. As their eyes met them both felt the shudder of instant magnetic attraction as their auras complimented each other lifting their composite energy even higher.

The higher frequency person is the teacher or guide while the lower frequency person is the student. We are all guides or students depending on who we are talking to on the path of life. Because Rose could see a little further than her partner she could see the limitations. However she chooses to commit herself as an act of service. In addition due to a very deep inner insecure, she felt drawn back into relationship to fulfill the soul driven urge to find completion. Every person who understands and lives personal responsibility correctly is also a priest. This is why we say that she is an aspiring high priestess because she is working towards this goal.

From that very first moment they pursued a path of courtship finding that place where all lovers ever go, the consummation of their love by becoming lovers. The big commitment was then made to love each other forever and always. This couple had a lot going for them in many respects. In particular they had an understanding of energy conservation. In addition the ability to raise energy from the lower to the higher chakra's or energy center's in the …

A Metaphor for Refractive Errors

Almost anything the most beautiful possible can be perceived only through the eyes. The eyes have long been considered as an essential organ for all sighted individuals. The eye is in fact a very complex organ that consist of various delicate parts. Each of these parts describes careful protection. Putting aside its complexity, the eye can be considered as a circle. It is easy to understand that the image of the circle will fall at the opposite side on the margin of the circle if a person shines a candle light in front of the circle. However, people with refractive errors have irregular eye balls. Taking the same example, the image of the candle light falls either in front or far behind the circle because of the irregular shape of the circle itself. This metaphor simply explains the principle of refractive errors. The reason is that those pamphlets are always hard to understand.

Once told to wear a pair of corrective eye glasses, either a child or an adult will probably get agitated or annoyed. However, it is often inevitable while the doctor believes that the glasses are the best solution. Refractive errors including nearsightedness, farsightedness and astigmatism are the exact reasons for the need to use prescription glasses. It is impossible to shrink the eye by making a hole. Nor it is possible to make it enlarge by blowing air into it. Eyeglasses with appropriate powers are now widely used to make the eyes focus properly. Applying these lenses to the same metaphor, they are actually located in between the candle light and the circle. By adding such a lens, the image will fall exactly on the circle. Prescription lenses come with either minus or plus powers, corresponding to farsightedness or nearsightedness respectively. Just get relaxed when you are told to use eyeglasses.

Lola Rose Jewelery – The Story of Lola Rose

When the Lola Rose jewelery brand was first created ten years ago who would have known that it would quickly become one of the most well known jewelery ranges on both sides of the Atlantic. Worn by some of the most popular celebrities and seen in high end fashion magazines around the world, the Lola Rose jewelery range consists of some of the most elegant yet affordable pieces in the world of jewelery. But, the burning question has to be, just who is Lola Rose?

The Lola Rose jewelery range was born by Nicola Gewirtz back in 2000 as a side line venture to her promising career as a personal assistant in the corporate world. Having received a birthday gift from a friend which cost almost as much as the outfit it would compliment, Nicola realized that it was time luxurious jewelery was allowed to be purchased by the masses without the massive, sometimes outrageous price tags most commonly seen on the high street. So the Lola Rose jewelry range was born, named after her Grandma, Lola, an elegant woman on a daily basis, Nicola wanted to create a somewhat simple range of jewelery using still the best price range but still within a range range woman.

"Simply gorgeous, simply sexy, simply divine and simply chique." – Nicola Gewirtz for QVC

Initially just selling to her friends and family, Nicola quickly realized that this could and should be taken further. She took the gamble and with no real business knowledge started things formally and approached the big name stores. That was then, and now the Lola Rose jewelery range is one of the most respected ranges out there. Worn by celebrities such as Dannii Minogue, Halle Berry, and Angelina Jolie it has the endorsements of the 'A' lists while still retaining the price bracket that the masses can afford with typical pieces ranging from 50 to 100.

When asked, "what is your favorite piece", Nicola still stands by one of the first pieces she designed back in 2000, the 'tumble' bracelet, stating its simplicity is key to the range.

Lola Rose can be seen in many high street stores and across the web at places like QVC, JewelersWindow and even Amazon.

I wish Nicola the best of luck moving forward and am confident her pieces will continue to inspire and entice the public and accessorise the most glamorous of evenings.

Wind Power – The Ideal Power Source

Wind power: Nature and Origin

The solar radiations give birth to wind. These radiations heat up the surface of the planet earth, although in unequal proportions. This uneven heating follows as a direct result of the abrasive earth surface, rotational planetary movements as well as the continuously altering propensities of heat absorption of the different levels of the earth's atmosphere. The seas, oceans and vegetation types on earth play are important roles in this regard as well. As a result, some parts of the planet experience consistantly higher temperatures than certain other parts, all round the year.

For example, the poles of earth remain covered by snow and are always way colder than the warm equatorial regions. As a result of this phenomenon, air in the warmer parts grows lighter and less dense, and as such, begins moving in the upward direction. This creates a sort of vacuum in their place, which gets occupied rather quickly from the colder, denser, heavier air from nearby locations. Wind is defined as this movement process of air, and a form of kinetic energy is released from it. Modern technologies are made use of to acquire wind energy from this kinetic energy. The procedure of tapping and using wind energy to produce such outputs that can be used multiple number of times (like, electricity) is termed wind power.

Global usability of wind power

Wind is correctly described as the circulatory system of the entire earth. When sun rays reach the earth, the later gets heated up in an unequal fashion, due to rotational movements, uneven nature of earth's terrain, properties of the water bodies that differ from the vegetation-covered parts. The atmospheric levels of earth also vary in ability to absorb heat in its various layers. As a result of this unequal heating of the earth's surface, temperature differences remain between the earth's equator and the polar regions.

Air from the warmer parts of earth starts moving upwards. The void that created soon gets filled up by heavier air from the local cooler realms. Here, a redistribution of heat levels from the colder parts of the earth to the reliably warmer parts occurs. This process generates a form of energy. The latter can be used to produce electricity and / or mechanical energy (as the requirement might be). In fact, electricity produced from wind power resources make up approximately one per cent of the total worldwide supply of power forms.

There is a reasonable scope of more in-depth studies in topics surrounding wind power topics. However, usage of wind power has already become very popular all over the world. Germany, Denmark and America are the top three countries in terms of wind production. The recent past has indeed seen a spurt in the global usage of wind power.

The manner of working of wind power

Modern methods are used to tap and harness wind power, so that the latter can be converted into mechanical energy and electricity. The devices that generate mechanical energy from wind power resources are called wind mills. Wind turbines are the wind energy systems that convert wind power into electrical power. For realizing how wind power is exactly used, let us now look at the nature of the wind turbines. An average wind turbine has about two or three propeller blades, which are attached to a rotor.

A movable main shaft is used, to which the rotor, with its blades are fixed. The shaft is then attached to an electronic generator. When the latter starts to spin, electricity is produced. The blades of a wind turbine answer those in an airplane. Also, the most modern technologies, and the latest designs are used to manufacture of these turbines. Here, the latter can transform wind's kinetic energy to electric power. In keeping with the various uses that the wind turbines can be put to, they come with variable levels of power rating.

For example, a domestic home needs electricity that can be provided by a low powered turbine. However, for broad-based provincial an / or national application purposes, more electricity is required, and hence turbines with higher power ratings are needed. The power rating that any turbine has depends crucially on the speed with which wind moves across any particular region. This is in accordance with the law that, the amount of wind energy generated goes up with the velocity of the wind (raised to the power of 3). This immediately implies that, higher wind velocities would help in the production of more wind energy.

The effectiveness of wind power

Wind power systems use wind resources as their fuel. Now, wind is a free source of fuel that can be renewed as many times as wished for. As long as sun beats down on earth, no chances of exhaustion of wind stock …

LED Retrofit Kits And Their Benefits

Lighting cost is an area many people concentrate on especially when building. Everyone yearns for cheaper, more user friendly and environmentally friendly lighting options. Facility managers and even homeowners who are conscious about costs want modern solutions that still serve their purpose efficiently. LED retrofit kit make a very popular lighting solution for all. This is because the kit is long lasting, efficient and calls for minimal maintenance. The retrofit kits are popular options for both commercial and residential settings because of the following benefits.

1. The kits are energy efficient

Compared to conventional lighting systems such as incandescent bulbs, LED retrofit kits consume lee power with a huge percentage of high light output. The retrofits are therefore not only energy efficient, but also more economic. They make amazing choices for offices and showrooms among many other settings.

2. They are versatile

The LED retrofit kits can be used in a wide range of applications. They come in handy in offices, commercial buildings, garages and even homes. The kits are designed to fit almost any given place with illumination needs.

3. The kits are long lasting

The LED lights do not easily burn out compared to bulbs and fluorescent, they last thousands of hours thereby becoming an inexpensive lighting solution. The need to keep changing them every once in a while is eliminated.

4. The retrofit kits have exceptional dimming capacity

They offer maximum brightness immediately as compared to other lighting systems. In addition, you can easily regulate the brightness according to your demands and what you find most appropriate for the given setting. It means, therefore that you can still enjoy even lower energy use by dimming to the right levels.

5. They are free from UV rays and infrared

LED retrofit lights do not have ultra violet rays as compared to infrared rays and fluorescent tubes. They are free from UV transmission, thereby making the kits suitable for environments that are sensitive, such as museums, art galleries and archaeological sites.

6. They come with less maintenance needs

LED retrofit kit offer flawless lighting for years and there is no need for regular replacement. The kits are functional and do not require much maintenance to keep them functional as they are designed to do.

7. The kits do not flicker or make humming sounds

For this reason, the retrofit kits keep the lit area peaceful and quiet compared to conventional lights that keep flickering and make noise causing eyestrain and headaches because of these characteristics.
