Women’s Jewelry Vs Men’s Jewelry

Jewelry and women are truly two words that cannot be separated. You think of jewelry and the first thing that people will think is women. Even though men’s jewelry has been existed for long time enough to shake the intimacy between women and jewelry, people will still continue linking jewelry with women. It can’t be helped since jewelry itself is considered, to a great extent, as a forte of women.

However, we shall not forget that the existence of men’s jewelry is now an integral part in jewelry industry. Day by day, men’s jewelry unstoppably strengthens its position in the industry.

The easiest difference to tell between men’s jewelry and women’s jewelry is their look; women’s jewelry is feminine, vulnerable looking, cheerful, all characteristics that reflect how women basically should be. While men’s jewelry has stronger look.

You can also spot the difference by the options the jewelry offers. Usually, men’s jewelry has fewer designs and colors variety than women. There are also fewer categories available for men. When women can choose from rings to brooches or headbands, the options for men are limited to rings, cufflinks or bracelets. Although nowadays, fear not, that various companies have been inventing ways to create more alternatives for men! As example earrings or necklaces that will give men bold and manly look.

Jewelry isn’t limited to women anymore; nowadays we can see men wearing jewelry as often as we see women. Aside from complimenting wardrobe, most men wear jewelry as symbol of the wealth, position, personality and community. Most retailers now have separated the jewelry departments for men and women.

There are wide variety of contemporary and classy style of sterling silver jewelry that men can wear to represent their pride. To accentuate their look, some jewelry like cuff links or watches are preferred. Though so, men can also spread their choices by going with yellow gold or Swarovski crystals. Many men celebrities wear bold, sparking and eye-catching jewelry.

Most of the styles of bracelets or necklaces that men use are casual looking and inexpensive. Rubber bands are popular among the teenagers while the older, classier businessmen would prefer silver bands or silver chain link bracelets to be hidden behind the cuff of suit jacket to give a more elegant look.

Recently earrings have been huge trend for men who want to go bolder with piercings. A simpler type of men will choose simple studs or single diamond earrings. Earrings can give men big impact without looking “too much”.

Rings have also been very popular. Men don’t only wear rings as a sign of marriage or engagement but they now have been a fashion statement. Most men will just go with simple silver bands but that doesn’t make flashier kinds uncommon. Those who want to look Gothic will choose skull rings, etc. They also sometimes show their appreciation to diamonds by wearing diamond rings that look masculine and highlight their personality.

So for men who want to look more appealing, jewelry is one of your choices! Decorate your manly and elegant figure with pieces that will point out your strong features.

On women’s jewelry, you will also be able to find various colorful gemstones attached, while the vibrant gemstones are hardly to be found on men’s jewelry.

In conclusion, the entire look of jewelry has to suit the different personalities that men and women respectively possess.

Birthday Jewelery Series by Exquisite of Solihull UK (1914-1979)

Exquisite or WAP Watson Ltd produced costume jewelery in the UK from 1914 to 1979. One of the most popular series was the Birthday range. Hand painted flowers designs for each month of the year.

The series was ideal for a birthday gift and you could choose from a necklace, a brooch or clip on earrings. Or even buy the whole set to coordinate your look. The brooches were made in two sizes a small and a larger one. During my research I have not found any bracelets but I do think they may have produced and so if you own one I would love to know!

Each piece of jewelry was hand painted with cold enamel; and that means there are many different variations to be found, which makes collecting them quite interesting.

The flowers used for each month were the popular easy to grow varieties that start to first bloom then here in the UK. A mix of perennial plants and annual ones.

Below is a list of the months and the flower design used

January – snowdrop (white flowers with long green leaves)
February – primrose (yellow flowers with green leaves)
March – violets (pink / purple flowers with green leaves)
April – iris (blue flowers with long green leaves)
May – pansy (blue, yellow & pink flowers with green leaves)
June – rose (red roses with green leaves)
July – fuschia (pink, mauve flowers with green leaves)
August – poppy (red poppy with green leaves)
September – cornflower (blue flowers with green leaves))
October – carnation (pink, white flowers with green leaves)
November – chrysanthemum (purple flowers with green leaves)
December – Christmas rose or Helleborus Niger (white flowers with yellow center, red holly berries & green leaves)

The brooches were in sizes 7 x 5 cm (larger) & 5 x 4 cm (medium). Characteristic is of a bunch of flowers open & in bud tied with a ribbon bow.
Necklaces were flowers and leaves arranged in a row with a length of plain chain to the clasp
Earrings all clip on type with a flower and leaves.

Most of the brooches and earring appear to be signed on the reverse "Exquisite" or have the reg and copyright sign also. Many of the necklaces are unsigned but usually have the signature bow attached to the clasp.

The Birthday range can be found in their original boxes or on pouches. If you are lucky some have the birthday gift tag. They were available in gold or silver tone metal.

As Exquisite jewelery was hand enamelled care needs to be taken when buying a piece. Look at the photographs or examine the piece in depth. Some pieces are in excellent condition but some may have the enamel worn. Remember if the enamel is too worn you can hand paint it yourself.

Vintage costume jewelery by Exquisite was produced over a long time and there are many different series to collect – so have fun.

Are All Central Vacuum Attachments and Accessories the Same? Not Quite

So know you have a central vacuum system, or your planning on having one installed in the near future. This means you are aware of the many benefits this system can bring and most likely can’t wait to get to work with it. In actuality most of use could think of a million things we would rather be doing than cleaning, but using the correct tools can make it easy, if not all together enjoyable.

One thing that still amazes me about central vac systems are all the specific cleaning tools available for them. This is one of the main differences between a central vacuum and a traditional portable vacuum. There are bare floor brushes for tile, marble and wood floors, electric and non-electric carpet heads for carpeting and area rugs, blind tools, car tools, stair tools and even pet tools. With all these tools in hand, cleaning is done fast, efficient and right the first time.

Something else you may like is the fact that almost all of the tools are interchangeable from brand to brand. There is a common myth in the central vacuum world that all attachments must be made by a certain brand to fit that brand and that is false. In all honesty the best available central vacuum attachment kits and tools are made by companies such as Wessel-Werk, Cen-Tec, Lindhaus and others who do not make or supply central vac systems. This makes it easy to shop for the best central vacuum accessories regardless of your central vacuum brand. Just one more benefit that comes with owning a central vacuum system.

Plus Size Fur Jackets and Fur Coats – Sexy Looks for Larger Ladies

In a world where fashion magazines are full of anorexic fashion models that look like they would topple over if you blew on them, larger ladies often don’t get the respect and admiration for their own true beauty. Just because a woman is larger in size doesn’t mean she’s not as hot, beautiful and sexy. The fashion industry need to take notice of the larger woman’s own unique beauty. More options need to be available so that plus size ladies who also have buying power can adorn themselves in all the queenly fashions they too deserve. Fortunately one segment of the fashion industry knows how to make a plus size women feel as wonderful as she so rightly deserves to and that’s the fur industry.

Let’s face it, most plus size women are sensual. They relish sensual pleasures be that fine food, music, art, scents or fine materials such as cashmere, silk or real fur. A plus size woman understands that nothing is going to be as luxuriously soft, creamy and warm as a fur coat against her skin or the skin of her significant other.

Plus size women also love how forgiving a fur coat is to her figure, which may not be considered perfect by societal standards. Wrapped up in a full length mink coat, it’s hard to tell if a woman is a size 8 or a size 18. Many smaller size women buy their fur coats one to two sizes larger anyway so they can add layers underneath when needed. Also when worn over a formal gown you never want your fur to be too snug.

Full length fur coats are stunning on plus size ladies, but another great choice is the real fur swing coat. The swing coat was initially designed in the 1940’s to cover the full skirts that were in fashion. However the swing coat has become a classic style due to its’ graceful fluidity. The coat starts out more fitted at the shoulders and bodice then increasingly moves outward with extra volume that makes the coat “swing.”

A very sexy look that is popular right now is to wear a fur cape or fur shawl just as you would a fur jacket. The fur cape normally falls in the back to the waist or the center of ones’ back and the front of the fur cape will fall to the waist or just below. Fur capes and fur shawls look just as fabulous with a turtleneck, jeans and boots as they do with an evening gown and high heels. Add a wide belt around the waist over the cape for a high fashion look.

Ponchos made a huge come back a few years ago and fur ponchos look divine of plus size ladies. A fur poncho is so easy to fit because they’re basically one size fits all. Wearing a fur poncho is like enveloping yourself in decadent fur blanket, pure coziness. Fur ponchos can easily be dressed up or down. Wear them for a walk in the park or out for a special evening. One thing is for sure, heads will turn because you will look as fabulous as you feel.

Outstanding Fashion With Sterling Silver Jewelry

The way you present yourself in this day and age is very important. It seems that ‘image is everything.’ This means that the bar has been raised in order for someone to be told that they look good and are ‘with it’. Each and everyday, the fashion bar is raised because it seems there is always a new way of looking good. Outdoing each other in terms of fashion and trends seems to be the in-thing. One of the major accessories that people add to look good is jewelry, especially sterling silver jewelry. Gold has been in use over a long time and it is very easy to go a function and find someone in a gold chain, necklace or ring. But it is still the most precious metal around.

Sterling silver jewelry is getting popularity and people are starting to buy it in wholesale. Buying wholesale silver jewelry can make you come up with the most exquisite jewels and you may even end up making profits from it. Here is what I mean:

After purchasing silver in wholesale, you can come up with jewelry such as a sterling silver necklace. This sterling silver necklace is the perfect accessory for those people who are looking to personalize their jewelry. This can be done in a very simple way. All one has to do is to take a normal chain, cord or an old necklace that is not so attractive, and add anything that will give the world a glimpse of one’s style of using silver. In this case, you may add sterling silver on the chord or the chain so that the necklace would stand out. Since it is a personal touch that brings out one style of using silver on a necklace, one can add anything they want to it. In case you one has already gotten a customer, they can make custom made silver necklaces because some of the things that can be added are the favorite color of the client, an item that means something to them such as a valuable family ring, a peace symbol design, heart, or other lucky symbol, a teardrop-shaped pearl; whatever it is, one can thread it on a chain and make it the focal piece of your ensemble.

One can also purchase wholesale silver jewelry to make more jewels such as sterling silver rings. If you have ever wanted your hands to be center of attraction then having a sterling silver ring is a good way. It is one of the ways one will look and feel younger. After purchasing silver in whole to make the jewel, one can look for a professional jeweler who can mould the silver into the ring that they desire. One of the best examples of people with custom made silver rings is the Hollywood superstars. As they walk the on the red carpet, once in a while you can spot something shiny from their fingers, which is in most cases sterling silver rings.

Bracelets – Deck Yourself Up

Every girl likes wearing little pieces of jewellery adding up to their beauty.

A little bit of tinkling in the ears or a lit bit of sparkling on the wrists. Jewelleries are the staple pieces of adornment to give a statement to a girls molding beauty.

Here however we are emphasizing more on the beauty and uses of wearing bracelets.

As pretty as the name sounds, bracelets are pretty Little beads or other decorative stuff put into a thread and wrapped around your wrists, compelling people to turn back and look at what is that addition to your bare wrists.

They’re interesting and quirky and a lovely dressing up accessory.

Here are a few types of bracelets that are useful for you based on their qualities.

1. Copper bracelets – the classy touch

Copper bracelets have a medical advantage to its name that has been prevalent since the Egyptian period giving it a historical touch. Copper bracelets are said to be excellent healers to joint pain and a writhing stiffness linked to rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis. It does wonders in enabling free movement and comfortable joint flexibility. Although bracelets are worn mostly on the wrist, medical experts have acknowledged the fact that they help in joint flexibility throughout the body.

2. Magnetic bracelets – the ones that cling

Another Egyptian psychology, Magnetic bracelets are said to play an interesting role in aligning the magnetic field in our body. These quality of bracelets not only play a role in freeing you of any chronic pain or muscle problem that is just how you feel but it takes a toll on the way you function overall in a positive manner. The positive effect of a magnetic brave is a pretty believable one. Not only does the increased level of blood flow helps to pour in nutrients to the body but it also removes any kind of harmful toxins and contaminants from the tissues present in our body.

3. Leather bracelets – the smart and the statement maker

Obviously when compared to a silver or gold bracelet, a leather bracelet is not as resistant as them. But then you can also take this on your stride and make this leather bracelet to be your ‘only for special occasions’ piece of jewellery. In that way it will last longer and it becomes a rare adornment to have as you wear it to special occasions only. Therefore leather bracelets make for a better choice when you are trying to make a statement with what you wear.

Therefore here you find a pretty unusual piece of article where we’re more focused on the beneficial qualities of bracelets and not its functions merely.

Hope this article helps you to make a correct choice for your bracelet shopping.

The Difference Between a Casio Baby-G and a Casio G Shock Watch

Are you looking for the perfect watch that can stand up to your tough lifestyle? There are two that come to mind: the Casio Baby-G and the Casio G shock. These two watches are remarkably similar. They are both tough and durable. They can withstand large falls and impacts that other watches would crumble under. They can both be used in water, and they both have sleek designs that set them apart from other watches.

Their similarities make sense, though. After all, the Baby-G is just a smaller version of the G shock. Despite their similarities, however, there are a few unique differences you should consider before you decide to make a purchase.

Analyzing the Differences

  • Men vs. Women – One of the biggest differences between these two watches is that the G shock is made for men, and the Baby-G is made for women. The sizes of the straps and the watch’s face are different because of this. The Baby-G’s face is generally about the same in length, but it is usually not as deep as the men’s version of the watch.
  • Water Resistance – A G shock watch is generally (although not always) water resistant for up to 200 meters. While some Baby-G’s are as well, many are only resistant for up to 100 meters. Unless your favourite activity is snorkelling or deep sea diving, however, this should not be a problem.
  • Colour – The men’s version of this watch generally comes in very few colours, like black, red, silver, gray, and white. The women’s version, however, is much more colourful. You can find these watches in red, pink, green, white, purple, black, blue, and silver. This allows women to pick and choose different and vibrant colours to match any outfit they put on.

What do These Watches Have in Common?

Aside from their sleek look and unmatchable durability, these two watch styles have several features in common, including:

  • Temperature resistance – Some of the watches can withstand temperatures as low as -20 degrees Celsius.
  • Electro-luminescent backlight – The backlight on these two types of watches allows you to enjoy them anytime- no matter what time of day it is.
  • Auto-Calendar – These Casio watches are programmed so you will not only know the time, but the date as well. While the number of years the auto-calendar is programmed until will vary, depending on the exact version you purchase, some are programmed all the way until 2099.
  • Long Battery Life – The Casio G shock and Baby-G both come with long-lasting batteries. You can use these watches for up to two years before you need to replace them.
  • Stopwatch – Are you in training or simply trying to lose weight? These watches can help with one hour countdown timers, complete with an auto-repeat option, and a one hour stopwatch.

Whether you are a man or a woman, you are going to enjoy all of the unique features available to you from Casio’s line of G shock watches. If you are a woman, you can enjoy the traditional G shock gives a masculine flair and has all the bells and whistles you need, and if you are a woman, you can enjoy all the same great features, but with a more feminine and colourful accessory.

Residual Income Ideas

I have run businesses for over 25 years and it has always struck me that it would be a better way to describe it as “I have been in business for over 25 years and they have run me!”

What I’m trying to say is that the main driving force of being in business for me was to become rich, be my own boss and have more free time to enjoy life doing the things I like to do.

Rarely has it worked out that way, the roller coaster ride of being in business has more often than not led to me working more hours and having less time. A busy fool!

Can I tell you that it is only when I got to grips with the internet and started to come up with some residual income ideas on the net that I began to understand the power of the internet and its ability to be able to provide me with lots of methods of residual income whilst at the same time allowing me to be in control of the time and effort that I needed to put in to create great residual income.

What creating residual income websites has done for me is free up my time to begin to enjoy my life and actually concentrate on what I love to do rather than what I have to do to earn money.

There are hundreds of residual income programs and residual income jobs that can give you the money you are looking to earn.

I found it to be a brilliant way of having recurring income affiliate programs which effectively means you can have a salesforce of thousands for free all earning you cash. I have set up a great affiliate program finder and it is easy and straight forward to do.

So having previously been the proud but overworked and underpaid owner of businesses over the past 25 years I have now been granted the best opportunity in the world to really take advantage of having real financial security and getting rid of my money worries whilst at the same time divesting myself of the aggravation of having to employ staff.

Now I really am my own boss. I am at last free and I’m setting up all the automated residual income programs I want which let me sit back and enjoy my life at last.

It’s not difficult to do, anyone can do it. You too can enjoy a great passive income, you just need the knowledge and a bit of enthusiasm to get started.

Like most things in life if you want to see something really well you have to be prepared to put the work in.

However, unlike most things in life, once you are off and running with your residual income idea set up you are able to spend less time doing it and yet see more return coming in.

Zippers – History and Facts

The zipper is found everywhere in the modern day world, and is used in myriad applications. But the common zipper was not so common not so long ago:

  • Elias Howe, one of the pioneer inventors of the sewing machine, patented an early type of zipper in 1851 called The Automatic, Continuous Clothing Closure. His sewing machine took up most of his time, and he abandoned his early type of fastener.
  • The next person in the line of zipper evolution was named Whitcomb Judson. A tinkerer and experimenter, Judson invented many labor saving devices, including a type of fastener he patented called The Clasp Locker in 1893. Some of these fasteners were used by 1905 in the garment industry, but proved to be impractical.
  • The next step in zipper evolution led to the zipper as it is known today. An employee of Judson’s named Gideon Sundback first patented his Hookless Fastener in 1913, and with further improvements patented the new and improved version as the Separable Fastener in 1917. One of the first large customers for this fastener was the U.S. Army and the fastener was used in apparel and gear for U.S soldiers in World War One.
  • How did the fastener get the name ‘zipper’? The B.F.Goodrich company opted to use the new fasteners on its rubber galoshes. An executive trying out a prototype of the galoshes by sliding the fastener up and down, and said, “Zip’er up!”, emulating the sound made by the fastener. Thus the name zipper came into being. The story sounds apocryphal, but B.F. Goodrich registered the name as a trademark for overshoes with fasteners, Zipper Boots, in 1925. Other items began using the fastener, and the name ‘zipper’ stuck. B.F. Goodrich sued to protect its trademark, but was only allowed to retain its rights for ‘Zipper Boots’ and not for the name of the fastener.
  • For the first twenty years of the zipper’s existence it was used almost exclusively for boots and tobacco pouches.
  • In the 1930’s sales campaigns for children’s clothing that were equipped with zippers stressed the independence the fastener would give children to dress themselves. When French fashion designer in 1937 raved about the zipper being used in men’s pants, the zipper replaced buttons for fastening the fly of men’s trousers.
  • Clothing with zippers was seen as inappropriate for women because the clothing could be taken off quickly. Many religious leaders frowned on the use of zippers for this reason, and zippers were found mostly in men’s and children’s apparel for a number of years.
  • Zippers today are made not only from metal, but nylon and other materials. They are available in many different colors, lengths and styles.

The smartest way is to buy multivitamin or multivitamin mineral supplement. That will reduce your spending budget on vitamin compared to buying each vitamin in single dose pill. Multivitamin mineral supplements can cover daily vitamin needs. Look at the ingredient data facts and compare each vitamin amount to FDA daily allowance.

2. The manufacturer is the major key.

Do not just buy cheap vitamin supplement without further exploration on the manufacturer company. Here are some important questions about vitamin manufacturer as examples:

-How do they get the raw materials?

-Do they have high standard on the raw materials?

-Have they registered their company and product to a legal council?

-Do they have testimonials from happy customers?

-How do they act trough claims?

3. Estimate the vitamins quantity with the shipping time and expired date.

We usually get lower price or higher discount when we buy large amount of vitamin supplement. It is OK to do so, as long as we can finish consuming them before expiration date. Otherwise it will be wasting money because we buy too much supplement with no enough time to eat them.

4. Choose the simplest formula

You want to buy cheap vitamin, so pick one with no advance formulation like time-release tablet. Time-release tablet enable the active ingredient to be released slowly. So it can stabilize the amount of it in your body for longer time. Tablets like this have done a more complex making process compare to usual tablet, so the price will be higher too. For those who want to buy vitamin supplement at cheaper price, buy usual tablet formula. The end result will be no big different.

Be smart. Healthy living need some cost but not cost that high to maintain it.

Twentieth-Century Jewelry Styles

Twentieth-century jewelry styles show a fascinating evolution. We know these styles as Art Nouveau, Edwardian (or Garland), Art Deco, and Retro. Each was popular during a specific period and each has its unique style.

During the first decades of the twentieth century, the jewelry industry experienced a rebirth. This was due, in part, to the discovery of new supplies of gems and development of new manufacturing and gem-cutting techniques.

Social roles changed too, Jewelry prices were within reach of the ordinary citizen. The changing role in women in society and the rise of the middle class put new demands on the jewelry industry. In response, the industry experienced a revolution in jewelry style and design.

The first half of the twentieth century saw several distinct jewelry styles. Some were associated with are movements, others were a reaction to wartime shortages. All leave a brilliant legacy in the treasures that connoisseurs prize today.

Art Nouveau Jewelry

Introduced in the 1890s, the flowing style of Art Nouveau was a departure from the historic revival styles that had dominated nineteenth -century decorative arts. Art Nouveau, French for “new art,” was inspired by the vitality of the natural world and a new appreciation for Japanese art

Jewels in Art Nouveau style combine realistic interpretations of plants and animals with creatures of fantasy and myth. Raised to the level of fine art by such designers as Rene Lalique, this sinuous and sensual style disappeared completely with the onset of World War I in 1914.

Art Nouveau jewelry often includes one or more of these features:

  • Curving lines
  • Realistic portrayals of nature including butterflies, birds, and intertwining foliage
  • Fantastic creatures such as dragons and other mythical beasts
  • Gems such as pearls, opal, moonstone, aquamarine, tourmaline, rose quartz, chalcedony, chrysoprase, and amethyst
  • Use of glass, either molded or as enamel
  • Designs of women transformed into mermaids, winged sprites, or flowers

Edwardian Jewelry

Between 1900 and 1915, during the reign of England’s King Edward VII, the upper class of Europe and the US wore jewelry as a way to demonstrate their wealth. They favored lavish jewelry inspired by the eighteenth-century French court. Their jewels were made of the finest, rarest, and most costly gems and precious metals. This jewelry style is known as Edwardian, but it’s sometimes called Garland because it typically featured garlands of flowers tied with ribbons and bows.

Edwardian or Garland style jewelry can include these features:

  • Pearls and diamonds
  • Delicate platinum mountings
  • Colored gemstones including ruby, sapphire, emerald, opal, and cat’-eye chrysoberyl
  • Motifs like garlands, ribbons, bows, crescents, starbursts, Greek keys, laurel wreaths, wings, feathers, crowns, oak leaves, swallows, and butterflies.

Art Deco Jewelry

The Art Deco style emerged after World War I and dominated the decorative arts and jewelry from 1920 through the 1930s. It was a strong reaction against the ethereal sensuality of Art Nouveau and the delicate elegance of the Garland style. Art Deco jewelry suggests post-war practicality through its strong geometric patterns in bold contrasting colors.

Art Deco features include:

  • Bold, contrasting colors
  • Strong, geometric patterns
  • Sleek, streamlined look, emphasizing the vertical line
  • Gemstones including diamonds, black onyx, lapis lazuli, rubies, emeralds, sapphires, jade, turquoise, and topaz
  • Carved or cabochon-cut colored gemstones
  • Primary colors in rich combinations and strong contrast

Retro Jewelry

The outbreak of World War II in 1939 ended the Art Deco period. Gems were in short supply during the early 1940s, and platinum was reserved for military use. The jewelry produced during and immediately after the war used materials, such as gold and diamonds, that were still available during the lean years. Jewelry from the period is known as Retro.

The Retro style rounded Art Deco’s sharp angles and muted its bold colors. It features sculpted curves sparingly set with small diamonds and rubies. Jewelry of the late 1940s reflects post-war prosperity in a more opulent use of colored stones and increased femininity of design motifs.

Common themes and styles in Retro jewelry include:

  • Floral and bow motifs in colored gems
  • Animal figures of enameled gold and gems
  • Jeweled brooches, lapel clips
  • Bold, sculpted curves of rose gold set with small diamonds and rubies
  • Designs inspired by mechanical objects such as bicycle chains, padlocks, and tank treads
  • Stylized natural motifs
  • Large motifs fabricated using thin gold sheets of conserve metal while giving a substantial look
  • Gemstones like small diamonds, rubies (often synthetic), and light-colored sapphires.

Gymnasts: Fashion and Safety in Gymnastics

Being Able to See is Always Helpful

Keep your hair out of your face and tie back long hair. Hair can obstruct your vision, get caught on equipment or you can pull it on skills like back extension rolls.

Fashion Safety

Don’t wear dangling earrings, necklaces or other jewelry. They can get caught on your leotard or gym clothes, on the equipment, mats or carpet. Earrings torn out of your ear – that’s gotta hurt. Rings can scratch the bars and pinch your fingers.

No Valuable Jewelry

Don’t wear any valuable jewelry in the gym, especially into a loose foam pit. You may never find it or find only by pulling out every single piece of foam in the pit. Take it from the girl who lost her mother’s diamond stud earring and spent three full days sifting through the pit and dust and dirt at the bottom of the pit to find it. She never did find the back to it.

Tight is Right

If you wear socks to class, make sure they fit tightly. You don’t want them to come off in the pit and get lost. And you don’t want them to bunch up and possible create poor footing on skills or landings.

What Not to Wear

Don’t wear hair ties with hard objects, like plastic balls, on them. Skills, like back extension rolls, or falls can press them painfully into your head. There is no place in the gym for dangerous hair ornaments however decorative or stylish.

This is Not Ballet

Don’t wear slippery nylon tights, like you commonly see in ballet classes. They are not appropriate or safe in a gymnastics gym. They can cause you to slip on both beam and bars. Incidentally, if you wear tights to keep warm on floor or vault, gymnasts wear them outside their leotards, not inside like dancers. This allows you to remove them quickly and easily for events on which they are inappropriate.

Don’t Be a Bag(gy) Lady

Don’t wear baggy shirts or sweatshirts. Your vision can be obstructed if your shirt goes over your head when you are upside down. This can make it difficult and unsafe to tumble or perform on apparatus. Baggy clothing can also caught on spotters and equipment or wrap up your spotter’s hands.

No Studs in the Gym

Don’t wear any clothes in the gym to work out with belts, metal studs or buttons. The uneven bars are especially likely to get scratched with these. They can also scratch up your instructor or maybe even you.

No Heavy Metal

Wearing metal objects like belt buckles can damage gymnastics equipment, especially the uneven bars and which could result in splinters in your or other gymnasts hands. Rips are bad enough. Don’t compound the hand problems

Contact Time?

If you wear glasses, you need to make sure they are safe and secure. Wear a strap with glasses if they fit too loosely or tend to come off. Not only they can fall off and perhaps break, but also they could come partially off and poke you in the eye. You need to find some kind of solution for your glasses situation if you are unable to see well enough to vault or to see your coach clearly enough and contact lenses certainly fill the bill. If you want contacts anyway, here is a legitimate reason to ask for them.

Nail It

Keep your toenails and fingernails closely clipped and manicured. The rough and jagged edges of both toenails and fingernails can get caught on the floor exercise carpet and cause a painful tear. There is no place in gymnastics and the gym for extremely long nails. Hey could break or even scratch your coach.
