Making the Most of Your Home's Available Storage

Who ever has too much storage space? Usually the problem is not enough space. If you're like me, a person who can not stand clutter, everything has to have a special place. So it's important to utilize every inch of storage space to the maximum.

De-clutter

When looking for more space around your home, start by cleaning out the "old" stuff. We all have that box of "stuff" that we have not opened in years. If you have not used it in all this time, you probably do not need it. Donate unused items to Goodwill or have a garage sale to make some extra cash.

Use Wall Space

Installing shelving will eliminate the need for the storage of books and Cd's. Shelves are also the perfect place to display collectibles and decorative items.

Organize Drawers

Use dividers inside drawers to make space for several different items. Instead of using an entire drawer for just socks, you can also store items such as hats, ties, and mittens in the same space. The dividers will keep everything neat and in order.

Take Out the Boxes

Instead of storing cereal and other dry ingredients in their original boxes, use plastic canisters in different shapes and sizes to utilize less space in your cupboards.

Under the Bed

Do not forget about the empty space under the bed. All types of storage containers are available for under-bed storage. You can easily store shoes, blankets, or out- of- season clothing under the bed.

Double the Closet Space

Double closet space by adding an extra rod or installing a shoe organizer. Also try adding those collapsible hangers for maximum use of your rod space.

Making the most of your home's available storage will mean not having to over-crow your garage and attic space. And with everything in its own designated space, you'll know exactly where to look for it when needed, which saves you time as well.
