Why Shouldn’t You Rush Your Christmas Gifts While Shopping Online?
Christmas season comes with a lot of enthusiasm, everyone is looking to get that right gifts item for that special person in their life, but the truth is, a lot of people do not know how to organize Christmas gift for the people they care about. This is mainly because the Christmas season comes with a lot of mouth-watering sales, that they become too drawn into, and end up rush buying, and sometimes, the wrong item or something their partner or loved ones won’t exactly fancy. There are several items on sale during the Christmas period, and a lot of people jump immediately at the chance to purchase some of these items online. But why shouldn’t you do that?
In the course of this article, we shall be looking at why you should not rush to purchase Christmas gifts while shopping online.
Holiday Comes Closer
“Cometh the holiday, cometh the enormous shopping.” This is a popular phrase which simply translates into, as the holiday comes closer, so does the shopping increase. During the holiday season, everyone is in no doubt running around to get those last-minute Christmas gift, some search the web for hours for the right gift item to buy, others, read fashion online shops reviews for ratings and feedbacks on items sold, all just to make up their minds on what exactly to get, but is the rush, stress, and worries worth going through?
In most countries of the world where Christmas sales discounts do not hit the stores and online websites until after the holiday, in the United States, they start rolling out immediately after Thanksgiving, and the various promotions and sales that are offered by these online retailers are of utmost importance. In truth, they are what determines what we will get, and what we will buy. However, based on an analysis of over seven main American retailing companies done by Upstream e-commerce, it has been discovered that the majority of those deals around stay till after Christmas, and that means, there is no need for you to rush into getting gifts while shopping online.
The analysis covered companies like Amazon, Saks Fifth Avenue, Neiman Marcus, Macy’s, Zappos, and Shopbop over the last two shopping holiday seasons. What was discovered from this analysis is that the promotional discount which was offered by these companies before Christmas lasted till January. For instance, Neiman Marcus’s had 70% of all their discounts lasting through the first or second week of the new year, and at Saks Fifth Avenue, about 60% remained till January. And for Amazon, about 60% of items that went on sale during December at discount prices stayed that way till the first half of January. So in essence, it is not worth rushing your gift shopping if you are going to do it for the price, as they will most likely stay the same for weeks to come.
The analysis also found out that the products which have been discounted are not directly in the favor of shoppers as they are items which were probably increased in the weeks running into Christmas and then slashed as Christmas sales. This is something that a lot of shoppers do not know about, and even if they do, they are often too carried away by the large crowd who are already purchasing gift items online. More so, during the start of the discount, the best gift items are usually not available, and rushing into shopping will mean that you will be missing out on some of the best deals which usually come weeks into the discount sales.
So, the best thing to do is take a breath, avoid the influx of online shoppers and logistics issues you would have to sort out later. The Christmas sales and gifts will still be available during January. In the meantime, enjoy the season with your family.
